This commission was centered on the clients desire to create a new pool and pool house on a steep sloping site. The lower end of the site faces east, towards a majestic view of the Manhattan skyline. This new construction was to create a functional entertainment space while providing a grand view of the citys skyline.

The site was terraced and leveled to create usable exterior space that was connected to the main building but was different in character. Centered in this exterior space is an endless pool with a waterfall on the east side facing Manhattan. Between the slope of the site and the character of the endless pool, the water of the pool seems to merge with the city when you are on the pool patio or in the water.

Adjacent to the pool is a building pavilion that provides interior and exterior entertainment space. There is an exterior kitchen and bar area in one of the buildings turreted bays. This extends to the inside to an interior full kitchen, bath, and service area. In the center portion of the building, there is a large family room space that has a view out towards the pool through the large glass doors and the front exterior arcade. The other turreted bay contains an interior living space with views to the exterior, but without direct access to the exterior.

The purpose of the building, the patio, the pool, and the terraced landscaped areas is functionally to access and utilize the space for recreation. But even more importantly, it is a celebration of place a new place created to engage the landscape, and to be part of the amazing scenery.
