The old Kingsland Meat Distributors building on Stuyvesant Avenue in Lyndhurst is getting ready for a new look and new use. Construction will be done by Belmont Properties in Maywood with the plan of beginning construction in the spring of 2020.
The building will include a 2,200 square foot retail space located on the first floor, as well as two floors of apartment units above. The final approved design includes five one-bedroom units and two two-bedroom units. The building will have an elevator, and there will be some tenant storage space in the basement.
The two upper floors will extend beyond the first floor to allow several covered parking spaces underneath on the small infill site. It is anticipated that the floor above the retail space and parking will be constructed of steel and concrete, and the apartment floors will be wood frame construction.
