A new two-story addition was added to an existing one-story home. The majority of the existing home stayed the same as before except for a new dining room extension to the rear off the existing kitchen and living room areas. To the right side of the existing house, set at an angle to the existing, the new two-story addition connects with a new entry area, sitting area, and a central stair hall.

Towards the rear of the addition is a large living area that opens to a large covered deck via three french doors. Towards the front there is a bedroom with a bathroom, and a utility / storage area. The front has a covered porch that is accessed from the front yard. The upper level of the addition is a master bedroom suite with a sitting room, walk-in-closet, bathroom and private office. The bedroom opens to a rear deck that is stacked over the deck on the lower level.

Due to site constraints, the addition is built upon a network of foundation piers that are anchored to the ledge rock underneath. A unique feature of the addition is that the main rectangle of the space is a pre-engineered and fabricated log home structure. However the connection to the existing home is a site built element since the log portion is set at an angle to the existing house. The new connecting interior spaces and the roof configuration blend together these elements.
