The project is for a ground-up new building and site for Goodwill in North Plainfield. This building is to be one of the first brand new buildings for the organization in this region. The new facility is both a store open to the public, and a donations center for receiving items directly from the public. Overall the new building is approximately 11,500 square feet. The entire site is being reconfigured to accommodate the necessary access to the building and to also allow safe truck traffic for deliveries.

The overall design is in keeping with their overall national theme, but with certain adjustments to tailor it to the northeast region. The design is based upon providing wide open space for sales displays while maintaining efficiency for the staff in the sales area, and behind the scenes in the donation, office, and work areas. To promote Goodwill's position regarding energy efficiency, ideas such as daylighting using skylights and an automatic lighting control system will allow this facility to provide adequate lighting in the most energy conscious way possible.
