The client bought a summer cottage that was situated on a narrow lake site for an investment to turn around. The new construction had to stay on the same footprint as the existing building in order to comply with local building regulations. The site is a steep sloped, narrow 52 foot wide lot.
A comfortable lake style home with a street level entrance, a second story and a walkout basement was designed for this location. The home is designed to take advantage of the grand lake views. To counteract unnecessary heat loss and views of the neighbors, the home has no windows on its sides, but has large windows on the front and rear.
