A significant renovation and addition was designed for a typical 1-1/2 story Cape Cod style home. The addition to the first floor included a new entry foyer and a porch vestibule. A large vaulted family room with a bar and masonry fireplace was added to the rear. Also on the first floor level, a two-car garage was provided. The new layout is a free-flowing open floor plan that contains traditional log construction detailing.
The upstairs addition includes a new master bedroom suite with private bathroom, a sitting room, and walk-in-closets. The front rooms of the existing Cape Cod were expanded with large dormers to increase the floor area and to give more interest to the front elevation. The dormers give the front a grander appearance without significantly changing the original roofline.
