In the early 1980’s, the Joe Kubert’s Art School started using the former Dover High School building for their expanding art curriculum. At some point in its history, the original brick structure had a large addition put on facing Route 46. The art school chose to demolish the addition portion of the school while remodeling the original half. This improvement of the existing building included renovations of classrooms, and removing asbestos.

With an adjacent development plan for a new retail pharmacy on Route 46, the removal of the addition made way for the new site development necessary. The removal of the addition returns the building to its original size and character, while maintaining the space necessary for the art school and improving their facilities.
