The owners at Joe Heidt VW on Route 17 in Ramsey, New Jersey transformed their existing dealership building into a new modern facility. The new design concept and corporate branding was dictated by Volkswagen, and this complete building renovation meets with those updated design goals and aesthetics.

The unique part of the project was that the existing building was an important factor in the development of the design and trying to fit the requirements of Volkswagen. With everyone working as a team, this was an efficient process where many decisions were made very quickly. This group effort lead to a final design that met with the intent of the desired aesthetic while working with various constraints of the existing building.

After all approvals were obtained from Volkswagen, final construction drawings were completed for the full renovation and alterations. These included all the necessary structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and aesthetic factors that all had to work in sync with each other. Then the necessary permits were obtained from the municipality to proceed with construction.

With careful planning and coordination, Terco Construction has been able to keep the dealership operational for the owner even though this comprehensive project impacts all areas through-out the building.

At the Metro Builders awards banquet in June 2018, the Metropolitan Builders and Contractors Association of New Jersey awarded Fox Architectural Design the Best Commercial Renovation for this project.
