Boy Scout Troop 113 Eagle Scout ceremony invite for Fox Architectural Design
We worked with Sumantra Chattopadhyay of Troop 113 on his Eagle Scout project to create a book drop shelter for the Rockaway Township public library. Working with Sumantra on this thoughtful Eagle Scout project was a pleasure. He provided a very clear vision of what he envisioned for the book drop shelter. This clarity allowed us to very easily translate that vision into a final structural layout and set of construction documents that the contractor could utilize for building permits, pricing, and construction.

His coordination during all of the various project phases allowed for the smooth completion of the project. We were very excited to see the final constructed book drop shelter. All of us here at Fox Architectural Design congratulate Sumantra, and wish him the best in all future endeavors!

Best Associate Architectural Design: Best Commercial Renovation
In 2007, the Community Builders Association of New Jersey awarded Fox Architectural Design the Best Commercial Renovation for Senorita's Mexican Grill. An existing vacant hardware store on Glenwood Avenue in Bloomfield, New Jersey was transformed into a new vibrant three-story restaurant. The reuse and modification of an existing structure for an entirely new purpose demonstrates our commitment to saving, but updating the streetscape of our cities.

AIA Newark and Suburban Architects 2006 Design Competition.
The Senorita's Mexican Grill project was entered into our local chapter of the AIA's 2006 design competition and it tied for first place. This structure was an abandoned and dilapidated retail building that was reborn as a three-story restaurant. Minor changes to the front of the ground level made the building more suitable to its new use without significantly changing how it engages the streetscape. The addition of color on the walls, and on the new awnings, provides a visual clue as to the theme of the restaurant inside. It is an effective enticement and advertisement for the facility without resorting to large signs that would change the established relationship to the street. The adaptive reuse of various elements on the building scale is analogous to how the building is recreated in the scale of its neighborhood context.
